Dragutin Kološić was born in 1946 in Gojlo, Croatia. After finishing high school, he enrolled at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Zagreb, where he graduated in 1975 in physics. For many years he has been employed in ARSO. He is married and has two adult children, a daughter and son.
He originates from a poor family. His great desire was to be trained for a painter (he wanted to study painting at the Academy of Fine Arts), but due to weak social situation in the family he was unable to afford it.
He started painting at an early age, but due to many family and other commitments he did not have free time, which could be fully devoted to painting, hence his work was not continuous. Nevertheless, his work is broad and it consists of more than 100 oil and a little less acrylic works and paintings in mixed media.
Although self-taught painter, he sovereignly masters all painting techniques.
His paintings are interlacement of power, desire and vitality with an outstanding sense for colour.
It should be noted that Dragutin Kološić is an unknown painter who works in complete anonymity. He created paintings for himself, for the love of art, and not for sale.
Over the past few years he has tried to display his works in Maribor, but all his requests were rejected without any explanation.
In the near future he will be exhibiting his work in Zagreb, Croatia.
Dragutin Kološić owns all of his paintings and he has not sold any paintings yet.
He is currently looking for a manager in London because he wants to step out from the world of anonymity and show his whole opus.
